In the Inuit Culture masks are mainly used for dancing in religious ceremonies or festivals. They were performed for the enjoyment of both onlooker and performer. The dancing had varying meanings in the culture for example, "survival" or "a man hunting a walrus". Every mask had its own story and song to represent its meaning. The creation of the mask usually came from a vision one had. The masks themselves were made of spruce or cottonwood and carved with metal tools. In the Inuit culture masks had a great amount of meaning. This wonderful graphite sculpture is a work of art as well as a playful writing instrument. Made from composites and pure graphite this sculpture can be used to write or draw on multiple mediums or collected and displayed as an art piece. Measures 4.5" by 2"
