Rich and Louann Faust create delightful thumb pianos--otherwise known as "kalimbas"--made from hand-selected and dried gourds. Their creations are faithful to gourd-pianos found in Africa. Styles include both single and double-octave models. The kalimba is a difficult instrument to play well, but even novices can enjoy the melodic and rhythmic notes each creates.
